JLPT N2 Result

sad

Today is the day the results are Online for “the rest of us” and I just could not wait! I was pondering, should I look them up? Should I wait for the results to be mailed? I decided to look them up, and I failed! What? Yes, 不合格 [ふごうかく] failed! Too bad, but that is the result. Close, but it was a fail. A in vocabulary B in grammar, but the listening killed me. I thought that if it were, it would be the grammar or the language knowledge part, or even the reading. But listening? No, I did not expect that this part would be a problem.

JLPT N2 is History

Hi everyone! How was the big test today? Did everything go well? I just came back home half an hour ago, and boy, this was some experience. Before I tell you about my experience, I will tell you the story of my big day. I got up at around 5 o’clock, punctually, drank an espresso, made myself ready to leave, checked that I got everything, and when I was done, it was about high time to leave for my train. After arriving at my local station, the first shock, because the train would arrive 10 minutes late! And so it was. The time was ticking by, and I was nervous, unnecessarily so to be honest.

During the last couple of months, I was working my butt off, to prepare myself as best as I can for the big test. Except one thing, listening comprehension exercises. I thought that there is no need for it, and this is still the way I think about it. The only thing one can do for listening comprehension, is listening. Thanks to the wonderful people at NHK 高校講座 and their programme for highschool children, I also acquired skills in active listening, and answering questions after an episode of roughly 20 minutes. Not one of the listening sections on the test will be that long, so there shouldn’t be any problem on the real test to keep the information, without having to take notes. Which, for me, is rather distracting. Since there are only two days left, and little old me aiming to use the remaining time wisely, this is what I’m currently doing.

The Big Day is Close

The last couple of days were full of stress for me. I had to buy some utensils for the big test this coming Sunday, book my train tickets, print out my voucher, access maps, subway maps, maps containing taxi stands in front of the train station, in short it was horrible. You would not think how difficult it is, to obtain all the information, to book two tickets for a train, and to find timetables for subways.

Finale

The time for the big test draws closer and closer, and I think that my preparations for it start to bear fruit. The last months have been a marathon, working through book after book, huge vocabulary lists, listening and watching native Japanese media, working through various NHK courses, mostly about Art and related topics, swallowing the basics of Quantum mechanics, and various other things I think the big day can come. The last book to prepare myself for it was どんな時どう使う日本語表現文型, and I promised to release my material to aid those who own the 改訂版 (かいていばん) the revised edition of the book.

Outlook

It is early autumn, the leafs are still green, but the weather and temperatures have dropped sharply. In other words, it is the perfect season for staying inside, spending some more time with books, and other Japanese related activities. Learning, surfing the internet, chatting, and reorganizing my life on top of that, have kept me from writing here. Since I received a request for the 日本語総まとめN2 deck, I thought to let you know that I still exist.

This is a Warning

Two days ago I received a call from the test center during my absence. I have already written about it in another article, Confusion, but here is a summary for those who haven’t read it. I was informed that something went wrong with my application, and when I tried to call and ask what the problem was, the person on the other end of the line couldn’t help me. Luckily I sent another mail asking what exactly went wrong, and yesterday I received the answer. One of the problems was that the pictures were missing, which they warned me about in the invoice. After looking into the envelope, they found them, which solved problem number one. The thing with the pictures was only a personal problem. But the other is a common one, I want to warn all of you about.
